A present continuous tense describes an action that is happening right now.
 

 

I am playing tennis.
 

 

In the sentence above, the action of “playing tennis” is happening right now, but eventually it will be over.
 

 

To form the present continuous tense, we simply add -ing at the end of the main verb and add the auxiliary verb to be - is, am, are (conjugated or form changed) before it.
