An expression having more than one operation can be evaluated using PEMDAS rule.

P       Parentheses
E       Exponents
M D   Multiplication and division (from left to right)
A S    Addition and subtraction (from left to right)

 

For example, let's evaluate the expression (25 – 11) x 3.

(25  11) x 3

14 x 3      [Simplify parentheses]

= 42            [Multiplication]

 

So, (25 – 11) x 3 = 42
